Throughout her career, Zara has achieved numerous accolades, including multiple number one singles, nominations for prestigious awards, and recognition as one of New Zealand’s most successful female artists. 

As co-creator, lead vocalist, and songwriter for the New Zealand award-winning group Deep Obsession, Zara was the driving force behind their success. She played a significant role in the group’s achievement of being the first and only to have three consecutive number-one songs from their debut album, ‘Infinity’.

With Zara’s musical accomplishments, Unity Music was founded in 2002. In 2012, Zara embraced her passion for healing arts and evolved the company’s mission into the powerhouse of music healing that it is today, applying the science behind it.

Zara Clark began her singing career at the age of 17. She started in Spellbound with her friend Lisa, and they have shared 33 years of music and friendship.

Rising to Stardom with Deep Obsession!

In 1998, Zara co-founded Deep Obsession, a Euro-styled dance group that quickly gained recognition for their innovative sound and Zara’s powerful vocals. Their debut single, a reimagined version of Air Supply’s “Lost in Love,” soared to the top of the New Zealand music charts, making history as the first unsigned group to achieve such a feat. The group’s subsequent singles, “Cold” and “One and Only” also reached number one, solidifying their status as chart-toppers.

International Success and Challenges!

Deep Obsession’s success propelled them to an international record deal and a publishing contract with Universal Music. They continued to make significant waves in the music industry in the UK, South Africa, Thailand, Japan, and worldwide.

Brain Rawling, the producer of Cher’s record breaking album “Believe”, remixed several tracks from Deep Obsession’s International Infinity Album, including their New Zealand number-one hits: “Lost in Love” “Cold” and “One & Only“.

Steve Peach and Paul Goodyear, an A&R representative from Universal UK, mixed the remaining tracks on the UK version of the Infinity album.

In 2001, they rehearsed for a promo tour in Europe, Asia, and the USA. However, the group faced challenges, including the departure of members and the impact of the 9/11 attacks.


Zara’s Awards and Nominations!

Zara’s musical journey with Deep Obsession earned her several accolades in the early 2000s. She was nominated for Best Female Vocalist and her song “Cold” received a nomination for Best Song at the NZ Music Awards in 2000. The group was also recognized internationally with a nomination for Outstanding International Achievement in 2001. In 2003, their music video for “Miracles” was nominated for Best Video at the NZ Music Video Awards.

Zara’s success continued as she was awarded in 2015 for maintaining the achievement of Most Number One Singles by a NZ Artist.
