Zara Clark: Your Musical Mentor
A Legacy of Hit Songs
Zara Clark’s journey in the New Zealand music industry spans over three decades, marked by her songwriting prowess and musical talent. Her contributions to the scene have been nothing short of remarkable, with several chart-topping hits and critical acclaim.
One of her most significant achievements came in 1999 with the release of “Cold”, a collaboration with Chris that quickly ascended to the top of the charts. The song’s accompanying music video further solidified its popularity, leading to a nomination for Best Songwriter at the New Zealand Music Awards in 2000.
Zara’s talent extended beyond New Zealand borders. An LA producer who had worked with international stars like Pink and Christina Aguilera recognized the potential of “Cold” and created a US remix. This version, titled “I Surrender“, also charted in New Zealand, reaching the top 25.
A Heartfelt Tribute
Zara’s songwriting often drew inspiration from personal experiences. Following the loss of her biological father, Terry, to cancer, she penned the poignant song “Miracles“. This heartfelt tribute made history as the highest-charting song in New Zealand to never receive an official release. Powered solely by radio Airplay, “Miracles” climbed to number 34 on the charts and earned a nomination for Best Video at the 2003 Tui Music Video Awards and NZ Music Video Awards.
